Streamlined Task Orientated Management of Projects
Please join us now and get involved in developing STOMP
What is STOMP? (See Presentation )
The world of project management can be viewed in many ways, some see it as a 'Black Art' full of acronyms and terminology that sends them to sleep! others call themselves project managers although they have simply worked on a project and have MS Project installed on their desktops! and some of us just see it as our profession.
The idea behind STOMP is to develop a high level methodology that is understood by all levels and describes the basic processes behind the running of a project (whether this is the senior management who just want a high level view of the progress of their project or the employee working on the shop floor understanding how their small task fits into the overall project scope.)
What STOMP isn't! See presentation
Some people may say that there are more than enough standards and methodologies around to confuse matters already. PRINCE, ITIL and Six Sigma to name but a few are complex tools that all good project managers use to perform their jobs. However, most project managers would agree that there is little benefit training all senior management and their reports the finer detail of these. STOMP also isn't a qualification that will allow office managers to call themselves project managers, but it will give them a much better understanding of what some of their reports do.
Where does STOMP fit into a business?
The idea behind STOMP is have a streamlined (or simplified) project methodology that can sit on top of whatever methodology a business or organisation currently uses that can be tought to all employees, whether they are junior staff or senior management, it will be as jargon free as possible and focus on the key stages of a generic project.
Why get involved now?
The plan is to develop with experts from across all business sectors this methodology, the more professional PMs who get involved now the better the product will be.
